Mike Agbedor-Abu Ozekhome was born on October 15, 1957 in Iviukwe, Agenebode in Edo State, Nigeria. He is a professional lawyer and, at the same time, a human rights activist, though he holds the rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). Another aspect for which he is known for his work is that of a constitutional lawyer, including being an orator. He has handled most Nigerian prominent men’s cases, even from the side of politicians, and won.
His Educational background
While in the aspect of his education biography, with the dream of becoming a lawyer, he obtained his Bachelor’s of Laws Degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University in 1980.
Thereafter, Ozekhome attended Victoria Island, Lagos, around 1981, before he was called to bar in July 1981. Seeing that it wasn’t enough, he received his Master’s Degree in law at the same university, Obafemi Awolowo University.
His Career
After obtaining his Master’s Degree (LLM), he was posted to the Ministry of Justice in Yola, where he served as a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Kidnap and Release
While performing his duty, he was said to have been kidnapped by some group of kidnappers, in which criminal Kelvin Prosper Oniarah was involved, but was held after a thorough investigation by the security team of the Nigerian army and a DSS operative for kidnapping.
However, they kidnapped Ozekhome on the Benin-Auchi motorway on August 23, 2013 and, as usual, a ransom was demanded by the kidnappers, who even shot four policemen who were trying to rescue him in an exchange of bullets. Notwithstanding, he was later released on September 12, 2013 after the ransom had been paid.

Nnamdi Kanu, who happens to be the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), engages Ozekhome in order to strengthen his defence team in his trial on a terrorism charge, which was placed against him by the office of the Attorney-General of the federation.
