Buhari's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari tests postive for coronavirus

The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari has tested positive, while Buhari has tested negative for the COVID-19 (coronavirus), following a test for the disease that was carried out on Monday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

This was confirmed to nyscinfo.com by presidential sources in Aso Rock.

Mr. Kyari travelled to Germany on Saturday, 7th March 2020 and met with Siemens officials in Munich on the Nigerian electricity expansion programme and returned last week on Saturday, 14th March 2020 with no symptoms.

Since he came back, he has been attending meetings with Buhari, Yemi Osinbajo, ministers and other members of the Federal Executive Council.

It was also gathered that the FEC meeting had to be postponed after he started coughing severely and exhibiting symptoms of the virus.

Mr. Kyari have now gone into isolation since testing positive for the virus.

The presidency is yet to release an official statement concerning the report.

At the time of filling this report, Nigeria has 40 confirmed cases of coronavirus with one death and two recovery.
