EFCC arrests NYSC Corps Member in Uyo for Yahoo Yahoo

EFCC arrests NYSC Corps Member in Uyo for Yahoo Yahoo (Internet Fraud) on Wednesday, August 7, 2019.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested a serving NYSC Corps Member, Victor Ejiogu for involvement in Yahoo Yahoo.

The 24-year-old Corper Victor was arrested alongside other five suspected internet fraudsters in an early morning raid at their apartment at No.28b Church Road Uyo by the operatives of the EFCC.

The other five suspects are: Ugochukwu Ndukwu (a 25-year-old disc jockey, DJ), Stanley Ibeh (a 27-year-old interior decorator), Godwin Akpan (a 26-year-old student), John Larry (a 24-year-old student) and Godwin Ini Obot (27-year-old cinematographer)

After their arrest, the suspects claimed to be involved in different legitimate lines of businesses and academic pursuits, forensic analysis of their laptops revealed scam mails and documents that established their involvements in internet fraud.

During their arrest, Victor Ejiogu, the 24-year-old NYSC member tried to conceal and destroy what would be incriminating evidences against them by throwing their laptops all the way down from the third floor of the three storey building where they live.

However, the Commission’s forensic experts were able to power the laptops and retrieve the scam mails and fraudulent documents, the suspect wanted to destroy.

They are all assisting the Commission with investigations and will be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is a Nigerian law enforcement agency that investigates financial crimes such as advance fee fraud (419 fraud) and money laundering.
