5000 Farmers To Get N3m CBN/NALDA Loan In Imo

Nyscinfo.cøm gathered that five thousand (5000) farmers in Imo State will benefit from the N3 million revolving loan provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria, in partnership with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA). This was discussed by the Executive Secretary of NALDA, Paul Ikonne.

Ikonne, noted that Muhammadu Buhari approved the empowerment of one thousand (1000) Imo women in cassava production and the establishment of three cassava’s production plants in the state.

He said that President Buhari approved the rehabilitation of the Songhai Redemption Farm, located in Nekede, Owerri.

He, also disclosed this at the commissioning of an integrated farm at Achara-Ubo Emekuku area of Imo State. According to him, the aim of the revolving loan was to assist farmers in the the state to sustain farming as the aim of the government was to create jobs for the youth and women.

He explained that the Achara-Ubo Integrated Farm, in Owerri North Local Government Area, is 35 hectares of arable land, with six poultry houses and eighteen pens that contain about ten thousand birds, three goat houses with hundred and ninety six goats and three pig farms containing hundred and eight pigs.

He also boasted of three solar boreholes, access roads and drainage and solar-powered street lights on the farm.

Similarly, NALDA’s Project Coordinator in Imo State, Emeka Ugwunali, expressed hope that the project would help the host community and beneficiaries to improve their well-being
