AfCFTA Youth Creative Competition 2021

African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in collaboration with Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA) has come up with a splendid initiative known as the AfCFTA Youth Creative Competition.

The competition is meant for African youths. As they’ll be able to gain more knowledge about AfCFTA, and how to drive the initiative’s agenda.

All African nationals and those in diaspora are at this point encouraged to take part in the competition.

The topic for this year’s edition of AfCFTA is ” What is in it for young Africans?”.

It should be noted that the competition is shared into three (3) phases/parts.

To enable those who wish to educate others about AfCFTA, and have the ability to make things move well.

Hopefully, the teaming youth population of Africa will be educated on AfCFTA through contents created by successful applicants.

Other sponsors of the competition are; Afrexim bank, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and International Trade Centre (ITC).

Eligibility

The expected criteria from applicants are;

  1. Be a citizen of a country belonging to the Africa Union.
  2. Possess a National Identity card to confirm your nationality.
  3. Lives either temporarily or permanently in the Africa or the diaspora.
  4. Be between 18 to 25 years of age.
  5. Have passion in developing Africa and also a clear rooted knowledge of AfCFTA.
  6. Submit application before the date of portal closure/deadline.

Jury of The Competition

A panel of judges selected by the AfCFTA secretariat and other sponsors will assess all submission.

At the end, three winners will emerge from each of the categories.

Prizes/Rewards For The AfCFTA Youth Creative Competition

First (1st) Position

The first position will be given;

  • One thousand US Dollars ($1,000).
  • Free mentorship from the organizers/sponsors.
  • Publication of the person’s work. Both on the sponsors pages, and on other websites.
  • Have unique time with the executive directors, president and possibly chairperson of the organizers/sponsors.
  • Interview session with media house(s) of partners.
  • Freelance contract.
  • Brief internship program in partner’s institution(s).

Second (2nd) Position

The second position will be given;

  • Five hundred US Dollars ($500).
  • Free mentorship from the organizers/sponsors.
  • Publication of the person’s work. Both on the sponsors pages, and on other websites.

Third (3rd) Position

The third position will be given;

  • Three hundred US Dollars (300).
  • Free mentorship from the organizers/sponsors.
  • Publication of the person’s work. Both on the sponsors pages, and other websites.
