Aliyu Abdulhameed, the managing director of the Nigerian Incentive-based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), has been fired by President Muhammadu Buhari due to charges of fraud.
According to the Peoples Gazette, the president reportedly removed Mr. Abdulhameed from his position on Thursday afternoon and carried him out of the building shortly after.
Since he was appointed to his position in 2015, Mr. Abdulhameed is suspected of stealing money from the organization.
It was learned that the hiring process for his replacement had started.
“His exotic official vehicles were all withdrawn from him. He left the office in a small Ford vehicle and was grandstanding that he would soon be back,” a source told the Sahara Reporters.
