National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has announced publicly that the registration portal for its Digital States’ Programme for 2021 is opened to accept applicants.
The program is to consolidate the country’s digital economy. Therefore, interested and qualified persons are endeavor to grab the opportunity.
NITDA in line with NDEPS, which is an acronym for National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy has put everything in place towards unveiling (launching) a nationwide Digital Literacy and Skills Programme, where they can train Nigerians. To he program is tagged “The Digital States Initiative”. Apply for Dele Momodu N5000 Grant .
Facts About the Program
- The program is aimed at getting Nigerian youths all important digital literacy skills, that can enhance Nigerians transition towards a confirm digital economy.
- A total number of about five hundred and forty (540) youths from each of the 36 states including the FCT will be trained.
- Not less than twenty thousand (20,000) Nigerians are to benefit from the ‘Digital States initiative’ program.
- The program will kick-start from Lagos, Kano, Rivers, and Gombe States. Awaiting when other states will join suit.
Areas of Training
The training will cover the following areas;
- Content Creation: Here, applicants will be trained on how to create contents, and also to promote businesses online.

Digital Marketing: The digital marketing will cover how to increase/improve sales of digital entrepreneurs in their businesses (either new or old businesses).

Productivity Tools: The productivity of students, and/or employees will be increased to a maximum level, either at school or working place.
Training Objectives
The training objectives includes;
- To assist Nigerian youths with professional digital skills needed to pilot the digital economy of the country.
- To empower youths with standard and marketable skills that will bring about easy employment globally.
- To bring about a massive number of IT professionals in the country, that can end up establishing their own firm in the digital industry.

Closing Date
The registration starts from on the 8th of March 2021. And as it proceeds, other states will be opened for registration. No closing date has been released as at the time of publishing this post.
