The Africa Initiative for Governance is now accepting applications for its Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation 2022 Public Leaders Programme from African individuals working in the public sector in Africa.

This unique program, developed in collaboration with the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford, provides senior public servants with an immersive executive education experience aimed at strengthening the skills they need to create cultures of excellence, effectiveness, and integrity throughout the institutions they lead.

Graduates of the program can help their countries develop by improving governance and developing public policies.

About Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation will give scholarships to 100 African public employees for the program’s 2022 cycle. Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede is a philanthropist, banker, and investor. As co-founder of the Tengen Family Office, Aig-Imoukhuede manages a multibillion-dollar business portfolio, while his wife, Ofovwe, manages the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, which focuses on developing Nigeria’s next generation of government leaders, transforming public sector effectiveness, and improving access to quality primary healthcare.

Program Goals and Benefits

Executives rising through the ranks of government departments, agencies, ministries, or international organizations must maintain excellent performance in their current position while learning the new skills and views they’ll need to take on a top leadership position.

The AIG Public Leaders Program is meant to ensure that these senior public officials, as well as those who will be moving into senior public-sector leadership roles in the coming three to seven years, learn a variety of new skills as rapidly as feasible.

The curriculum seeks to enhance their public leadership skills and provide them with the conceptual frameworks and practical tools they’ll need to face the challenges of a complex and fast changing world.

The Public Leaders Programme provides participants with insights from world-renowned researchers and practitioners, as well as peer learning from their peers. The learning experience is intensive and difficult, with a mix of classroom discussion, simulations, practical exercises, and group work engaging participants.

Program Requirements Qualification

  • Be citizens of any African country and actively participate in the African public sector.
  • Have worked in the public sector for at least seven years.
  • Be at the Directorate level or higher.
  • Demonstrate game-changing leadership abilities and attributes.
  • Please provide a letter of support from the ministry, department, or agency where they work.
  • Provide a record of promotions within the ministry, department, or agency for which they work, with the most recent five (5) years’ promotions recorded.

Criteria for Admission to the AIG Public Leaders Program

Only the brightest public sector executives from throughout Africa will be selected to participate in this training.

Candidates will be chosen based on their experience and accomplishments in the public sector, demonstrated leadership characteristics, intellectual ability, and personal motivations and ambitions.
