FirstBank 2023 Management Associate Program (FMAP) – Season III

The goal of the FirstBank Management Associate Programme (FMAP) is to create a pipeline of leaders of the future generation who will support the bank’s mission of being Africa’s Bank of First Choice.

The Board has authorized the launch of the FirstBank Management Associate Program in an effort to infuse leadership into the culture of the Bank and develop a pipeline of future leaders (FMAP). The goal of this initiative is to develop people quickly and thoroughly. It is geared toward young, dynamic, self-driven, and highly motivated people with excellent thinking, financial, and methodical skills, as well as an exceptional ability to communicate effectively and synthesize ideas, information, and data to support decision-making.

Global Exposure and Network

Successful applicants will be provided cross-country posting and secondment possibilities across the FirstBank network to give them exposure to a global network.

In conclusion, the FirstBank Management Associate Program aims to create a pipeline of future leaders who will propel the Bank toward its goal of becoming Africa’s Bank of First Choice. The programme is open to both internal and external candidates who possess the relevant skill set and strong leadership potential. If they consistently receive strong performance evaluations, successful candidates will receive regular promotions to the Assistant Manager grade.

FirstBank Management Associate Program Qualification Requirements

Internal Qualification

The Bank is seeking submissions from qualified internal candidates between the BA and SBO grades who have a strong aptitude for leadership. Applicants must be prepared to use this window of opportunity to advance their careers and join the Bank’s future generation of leaders.

Regardless of their grades at the time of entrance, successful candidates (Management Associates) will be promoted to Assistant Manager grade after completing the program. They will also be designated as High-Potential employees (HiPos) by the Bank, and subject to persistent high performance ratings in the annual assessment process, they will be eligible for regular promotion. Based on the delegate’s preferred/selected business function, full-time assignments will be assigned.

External Qualification

The Bank has also opened the programme to external candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Not more than 30 years old
  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in a structured organization, preferably financial services sector or global consulting firm
  • Minimum of Second Class Upper division in any discipline from a recognized University
  • Candidates must have a post-graduate degree (minimum Master’s degree) from a reputable university; OR
  • Relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, CFA
