FG to Employ 774,000 Youths for SPW from 5th January

The Federal Government is set to recruit 774,000 Nigerian youths for Special Public Works (SPW) from Tuesday 5th January 2021. This initiative is to mitigate socio-economic effects of coronavirus pandemic in the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari has given an approval nod to the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to commence the recruitment of 774,000 Nigerians under the extended social works program.

The 774,000 youths will be selected from the 774 local governments across the country. To ensure fairness in the process, each Local Government is expected to recruit 1000 Nigeria youths.

Each employed youth would be paid the sum of twenty thousand naira (N20,000) monthly for the period of three months. This will commence on Tuesday (5th January).

The employed youths are to work in the following areas.

  • Drain, desilting and maintenance.
  • Irrigation
  • Rural Federal roads maintenance.
  • Green walls, nurseries and orchard maintenance
  • Traffic control
  • Public infrastructure cleaning

Participants are to strictly observe all the Covid-19 protocols.
