FG To Launch Job Training Fellowship For Graduates

The federal government, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari has said it would launch a job training fellowship program for young graduates to tackle the high rrate of unemployment, and vast increment of poverty in Nigeria. The Federal Government has been restless, as more innovative plans are being initiated just to curb these issues.

In our tertiary institutions and institutions outside the country, thousands of Nigerian graduates are being produced yearly without a source of livelihood after schooling.

Statistically, the rate of unemployment in Nigeria as at early 2020 was 27.1%, and rose to 33.3% towards the end of the year 2020, meaning about twenty three million, one hundred and eighty seven thousand, three hundred and eighty-nine (23,187,389) Nigerians are jobless.

This has become a pressing issue that worth consideration, and here a better plan has been brought into the scene.

The Federal Government (FG) of Nigeria in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is about launching a job training fellowship meant solely for Nigerian graduates.

This very initiative is being made known by the Vice President of the Federation, who gave the assurance that all fresh graduates after serving under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will be opportune to accept an internship course where they will be tutored on how to tackle unemployment challenges, and acquire necessary skills. While undergoing the internship course, stipends will be rendered for one (1) year with both private and public sectors partaking in the programme.

This therefore means that participants will be paid on monthly basis while learning skills that will transform them from amateurs to professionals.

The program ‘Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Program’ will be launched formally by the presidency before the end of this very month (June), which will on yearly basis accommodate latest graduates.
To make it more standard with accurate objectives, the Government will also be launching a scheme/platform where the scores of graduates will be ascertain yearly.
