The National Youth Service Corps has been asked to partner with the Central Bank of Nigeria on the use of digital currency (E-Naira) for Corps members.
Additionally, it was stated that the electronic platform would permit risk-free payment for users.
The Central Bank of Nigeria’s Deputy Director for Information Technology, Mr. Habib Yusuf, made this statement on Monday while leading some employees on a polite visit to the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
The e-naira, the first of its kind in Africa, includes digital wallets that will enable offline purchases of products and services as well as the onboarding of numerous users, the speaker continued.
He continued by saying that the electronic platform would easily provide its consumers with access to several technologies.
The National Youth Service Corps’ acting director general, Christy Ifeyinwa Uba, praised the CBN for the innovation in her answer.
She stated that the Scheme is open to partnerships that would make the Corps Members’ service year special.
Uba did, however, add that NYSC Management will take the CBN’s request into consideration.
