Veronica Boniface, a 22-year-old jealous pregnant wife has allegedly stabbed her husband, Mohammed to death on Tuesday over a phone call with another woman in Nasarawa State.
Veronica, the mother of a two-and-half-year old baby was arrested and paraded by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
While parading the suspect at the NSCDC command headquarters in Lafia, the state capital, the NSCDC state commandant, Mohammed Mahmud-Fari, said the woman was arrested in Obene town of Keana Local Government Area of the state, after an intelligence report.
Fari said that the husband was rushed to the hospital after she stabbed him multiple times with a kitchen knife following an argument about a phone call from a purported strange woman.
Speaking with newsmen, Veronica who is two months pregnant for her late husband said she regretted her action and pleaded for leniency.
She explained that it was the handiwork of the devil, saying that she only intended to scare her husband and collect the phone, but eventually ended up killing him.
She further revealed that she was using the knife to peel yam when the argument started and she mistakenly stabbed him after struggling to collect the phone from him.
Police source said that Veronica will be charged for murder after the conclusion of investigation not minding her pregnancy.
