WomHub Africa Innovation Fellowship 2021

Since its establishment in 2019, the WomHub Africa Innovation Fellowship has supported women-led STEM concepts in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Africa Idea Fellowship 2021 is a six-month leadership and business development programme for African women innovators who have a startup or early-stage engineering idea.

In November 2021, the WomHub Africa Innovation Fellowship (AIF) will begin with virtual sessions focusing on idea and business incubation, leadership development, and networking. After then, there will be a five-month period of individualised virtual support with regular check-ins and milestones, which will expire in April 2022.


  1. Personal development and a better understanding of business will aid in the expansion of your company.
  2. Investor exposure in the African terrain.
  3. Interaction with other African innovators.
  4. One-on-one mentoring and venture clinics with subject matter specialists are available.


  1. Applicants must be female entrepreneurs or co-founders and identify as such.
  2. Individual applicants must be citizens of a Sub-Saharan African country. The main candidate must be a citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country.
  3. The innovation must be based in a Sub-Saharan African country.
  4. Applicants must have a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Manufacturing) innovation, but they do not have to be engineering graduates or students.
  5. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. There are no age restrictions.
  6. The applicant’s innovation can be any new STEM-based product, device, or service.
  7. Applicants must have a startup or early-stage engineering innovation.
  8. Applicants must be able to commit to the six-month programme, which will take place between November 2021 and April 2022.

Only those who fill out the online application form will be considered.

Completed applications must be submitted by October 15, 2021, at 23:59 GMT+2.

Applicants will be screened and shortlisted by an expert panel. By November 1, 2021, successful applicants will be contacted.
