There is an opening currently, to accommodate foreign language teaching Assistant (FLTA), who are to lecture either Hausa language or Yoruba Language in an American Institution(s).
Interested and qualified Nigerians who wishes to teach Languages (Hausa/Yoruba) or Culture to U.S students in their universities and colleges are welcome to apply for the role, as the opening is being made known by the Public Affairs Section of the US Mission in Nigeria.
The foreign language teaching Assistant (FLTA) is brought into the system to enable young foreign tutors impact local languages, to the Americans in their universities and colleges.
This will in return increase the teaching skills of the applicants, extend the knowledge of the tutor(s) on U.S custom, and also increase their English language proficiency.
Grant Benefits
The grant benefit attached to this opportunity are;

Note: Grantee’s are not allowed to travel with family to the United States, as the grant did not cover such.
Educational qualification
Only Applicants who studied any of the following discipline are qualified to apply;
- Education
- English Language
- Linguistics
- Hausa
- Yoruba
- Languages.
Eligibility
The criteria that must be met are as follows;
- Applicants must be either a Nigerian by birth or a resident in Nigeria with a valid passport. Expected to be in the country as at the time of application.
- Interested applicant(s) must posses bachelor degree in any of the above discipline (seen under educational qualification).
- Interested applicant(s) must be a teacher of yoruba, Hausa, or English language in Nigerian schools (either secondary, colleges or university) with prove to verify teaching experience.
- Applicants must provide endorsement from employer.
- Applicants are expected to have outstanding academic records, and show good level of proficiency in English Language by scoring not less than 90% in the Internet-Based TOEFL test that will be conducted.
- Posses a minimum of credit in Yoruba language in either WAEC or NECO.
- Applicants should have knowledge about current events in Nigeria as well as Yoruba or Hausa culture.
- Must have genuine interest in teaching the desired language (Yoruba or Hausa) to U.S students.
- Posses leadership skills, and ability to motivate learners in an emphatic way.
- Applicants should be willing to learn, and also be able to demonstrate maturity, creativity, professionalism, flexibility, dependability in discharging his/her duties.
- Applicants should be willing to serve as cultural ambassador, likewise a partaker in community/campus activities.
- Applicants should be willing to complete the programs.
- Applicants should have personal integrity and have good thinking mentality.
- No applicant(s) should plagiarized any part of the application in order to avoid disqualification.
How Nigerians Can Apply To Teach Hausa And Yoruba Languages In America
Interested and qualified applicants are to;

2) Login by imputing your email and preferred password.
3) Carefully read the instructions attached to each page of the online application form.
4) Upload all required documents (i.e reference letter, CV, academic transcript).
5) Compose an essay which will entail the goals of the program and future plans of teaching the language in Nigeria.
6) Hard copy of credentials e.g transcript should be forwarded to FLTA by mail.
Those applying as Yoruba tutor are to address their envelope to Fulbright Program Officer, Public Affairs Section, US Consulate General, 2 Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos State.
While those applying as Hausa tutor are to use Cultural Affairs Assistant, U.S. Embassy, Plot 1075 Diplomatic Drive, Central Area, Abuja.
