If you are a Nigerian software way developer, this is good news for you. Usman dan Fodio University, Sokoto, has announced a software competition targeted at developing indigenous innovative Social Media Apps Platforms in Nigeria.
With this event, the institution will harness the talent within its community to develop apps that allow for full social networking and content sharing among users. The competition will also give attention to other aspects that such apps will address including but not limited to:
- Control of the spread of fake news.
- Improvement of innovative features to support education.
- Advancement of partnership among users.
Usman Danfodio University was established in 1975 as a non-profit higher institution in Sokoto state. It is recognized and accredited official by the National Universities Commission (NUC) of Nigeria. The university offers courses and programs leading to award of degrees in various fields.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify to take part, you will be required to provide the following as part of the entry requirements:
• Link to your App.
• Video of the App.
• Description of your App in text.
• A minimum of one photograph of the App.
• Electronic acknowledgment via the webs that applicant has read and agreed to the official rules.
• Software application must originally owned by the applicant.
• Submission must not contain the following: indecency, defamation, violence, pornography, must not be hateful, violence inciting or violate legal rights (for example, rights of privacy and publicity) of others.
Criteria for Selection
• Originality and creativity – 10 points.
• Idea implementation (user experience, design and performance) – 15 points.
• Likely impact on any or all of the competition goals – 2 points per objective.
