The Agricultural Produce Sellers Association of Nigeria (APSAN) said it would employ 3,870 Nigerians into its workforce to fight substandard agro produce in the country. APSAN recruitment portal has been opened for recruiting eligible Nigerians.
This was disclosed in Abuja by the national president of Agricultural Produce Sellers Association of Nigeria, Comrade Aloys Akortsaha. According to Akortsaha, all Nigerian Youths with a minimum O’level qualification and above can apply.
Nyscinfo learnt that achieving food safety has been a struggle in Nigeria, as statistics shows that over 150,000 Nigerians die annually from illnesses caused by the food they take.
Akortsaha noted that the recruitment excercise is aimed at employing 5 persons per local government area across Nigeria. This will enable the organisation eradicate unsafe and contaminated food, which is classified as substandard agricultural produce in the country.
APSAN recruitment is done in collaboration with the Sandard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), whis is also aimed at driving the federal government’s policy of ‘Zero Reject’ in the agro produce exports.

The portal can be accessed via www.apsanonline.com.ng. This portal was launched on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 and would remain open for a period of one month to receive applications.
After application, what next?
Shortlisted applicants will undergo training by SON, after which they would be posted to work with security agencies across the local governments to educate farmers on the dangers of selling unsafe agro produce. They will inspect, and investigate any agro manufacturing and food processing outlet in Nigeria and report defaulters to NAFDAC and SON for prosecution.
Eligible Nigerians are advised to apply for the job as a way to contribute their quota to national development.
