The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has prolonged its warning strike for another two months.
Despite the fact that the union has not issued a public announcement about the meeting’s decision, a member of the organization’s NEC, who did not want to be identified, confirmed the news to The Nation on Monday.
He stated that ASUU made the decision at its lengthy National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, which began on Sunday and finished on Monday morning.
The union’s national secretariat at the University of Abuja hosted the NEC meeting.
The strike was extended by eight weeks, according to the NEC member, awaiting the Federal Government’s response to the union’s requests.
Nyscinfo has learned that the union needs overcome two major problems before calling off its strike: renegotiation of the 2009 FGN- ASUU agreement bordering on the working conditions of Nigerian academics and deployment of UTAS in the university system.
