Oyo Corper Suicide note revealed

Nyscinfo.com formerly reported on June 16th 2019, that an NYSC 2018 Batch B Stream 1 Corps Member currently serving in Oyo state had committed suicide.

It has been revealed that he left a suicide note stating he was fed up with life and pleaded with his parents to forgive him for all the troubles they went through to see him through school.

Johnson Onyilo, a graduate of University of Jos, Plateau State, from the Department of Accounting, was reportedly serving in Ibadan North-West Local Government Area of the state, when he chose to take his own life.

A close check at our NYSC facebook group “NYSC Batch A,B&C Group“, revealed that due to depression, he has once attempted suicide in the past. In his revelation on February 28 2019, while reacting to a suicide post on our facebook group, he wrote “Don’t be surprise that I ones attempted the same thing. let forget about money aspect, depression is truly a disease that can lure someone into suicide. Thank God I was able to encourage myself.”

It was further gathered that the suicide victim, lived with his sister during his service year, as confirmed by Jeffery Josboy Daniel, a member of our facebook group.

The Public Relations Officer of NYSC in the state, Mrs Christy Olatoye, confirmed the incident, praying that “God protects our youths from the rampant cases of suicide.”

The remains of the young man are to be taken to Benue State later this week for burial.
