Following the official confirmation of first case of ‘Coronavirus’ in Lagos by the Ministry of Health, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) might postpone its Orientation Camp Date for 2020 Batch ‘A’.
The first case of Coronavirus was reported and confirmed in Nigeria on 27th February, 2020 since its outbreak in China in January 2020.
The case involved an Italian man who visited Nigeria on 25th of February from Milan Italy for business. He fell sick on 26th and was rushed to Lagos Teaching Hospital where COVID-19 infection was confirmed…Read more.
However, the Italian man must have made several contacts with many people since his arrival in Nigeria on the 25th of February, 2020.
Will NYSC postpone Orientation Camp date for 2020 Batch A?
If more cases of Coronavirus is confirmed in Nigeria (which we pray not), NYSC would have no option than to reschedule its Camping Date for 2020 Batch A.
Also, if there is fear of the disease outbreak in Nigeria, the Orientation Camp date for 2020 Batch ‘A’ will be rescheduled.
The truth is that no one knows exactly what will happen next. But if the virus spread across Nigeria, NYSC programme will not only be postponed but suspended.
Note: We did not say that NYSC will postpone or has postponed its Orientation Camp date because of Coronavirus. We don’t know what will happen. So, this is just a simple analysis anyone should understand.
NYSC Orientation camp involves large gathering of people which is not encourage in a country with reported cases of Coronavirus. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. If NYSC postpones the Orientation Camp date, Nyscinfo will be the first to break the news. God bless Nigeria.
