The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development has warned Nigerians to be on the lookout for fake people posing as ministry representatives for the COVID-19 Rapid Response Register (RRR).
The Ministry revealed this on Monday when refuting a social media post that claimed it might make it easier for applicants to receive COVID-19 RRR if they called the number 07047328536.
The second batch of program participants will get a large cash transfer of N30,000 in September 2022, according to the NASSCO COVID-19 Rapid Response Register.
The NASSCO COVID-19 RRR will start being distributed to more than 2 million beneficiaries in the second batch within the time frame after all necessary preparations have been made.
The N30,000 COVID-19 RRR cash transfer is a one-time payment of N5,000 per month for the six months that the COVID-19 RRR Cash Transfer Program would be in effect.
The COVID-19 RRR Cash Transfer Program’s first phase will be completed in June 2022, and the National Social Safety-Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO) announced that it has begun a $800 million NASSP Scale Up program to pay cash transfers to 10.2 million Nigerians.
The Rapid Response Register project is still ongoing, according to NASSCO, which also noted that the program is aiming to reach additional prospective beneficiaries.
Remember that during the COVID-19 RRR introduction in December 2020, Vice President Prof. Yemi Osibanjo stated that over 24.3 million poor and vulnerable people would be identified and registered in the National Social Register, which is equivalent to about 5.7 million families.
The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development is intervening with the Rapid Response Register (RRR) for COVID-19 Cash Transfer, a World Bank-supported National Social Safety Nets Project, to identify and document the Urban and Semi-urban Poor who have lost their income streams and subsequently become poorer as a result of the hash economic impact of COVID-19.
The COVID-19 Pandamic has had an impact on economic life, therefore the National Social Safety Nets Project (NASSP) is expanding to build The Register across the country to target those in this category of non-traditional poor in urban and high density settings and/or slums.
People/Households who are listed on the COVID-19 Rapid Response Register are given N5,000 every six months.
