FG Goal Of Lifting 100M Nigerians From Poverty

Goals are sets and then work towards to, in order to be achieved. The FG goal of lifting 100M Nigerians from poverty was made known by the current administration.

The President Muhammadu Buhari led government has made known of its confidence in achieving the pronounced goal.

A total number of one hundred million (100,000,000) Nigerians were to be removed from poverty within ten (10) years by the current government.

FG cited that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) through the Anchor Borrower’s Program has made more than three hundred billion naira (N300,000,000,000) to smallholder farmers.

The farmers are more than 3.1 million who are into about 21 various commodities such as Rice, Maize, groundnuts, wheat, soybean, cassava, Fish, etc.

These various commodities are being cultivated on over 3.8 million hectares of land used by these farmers.

It is on record that at the end of the year 2020, loans were given by the Devolvement Bank of Nigeria.

The loan amounting to three hundred and twenty-four billion naira (324,000,000,000) was given to over 136,000 Nigerians.

For the most vulnerable and poor citizens to access credit, FG has increased the disbursement of Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme(GEEP) loan by one million (1,000,000) beneficiaries.

Currently, about eight million (8,000,000) Nigerians are benefiting from the Conditional Cash Transfer Program.

This covers about 4.6 million household of the poor and vulnerable citizens of the country.

Also, through the National Social Investment Program (NSIP), FG has touched millions of Nigerians.

The NSIP provided interest-free loans, skill acquisition & development, students’ nutrition & women empowerment, likewise social inclusion and welfare.

From the records so far, the FG Goal Of Lifting 100M Nigerians from poverty can come into reality before the stipulated duration elapse.
