FG Resolves Issues Affecting NIN Upload for Trade Grant Scheme

The Federal Government claimed it has resolved all issues affecting NIN upload for Trade Grant Scheme. Recall that we had reported that FG announces verification process for presidential palliative grant but applicants who tried to verify their NIN was unable to complete the process due to technical issues with the verification system.

The presidential grant initiative was aimed at supporting Nano Businesses under the Presidential Palliative Program. It offers a grant of N50,000 per beneficiary, with the goal of assisting one million nano businesses across the 774 local government areas.

The Minister of Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, revealed that the scheme, initially scheduled to commence on March 9, 2024, but experienced delays due to technical challenges in uploading applicants’ NINs to the portal. However, she assured that all technical issues have been resolved, expressing gratitude to applicants for their patience.

Earlier directives mandated all participants in the presidential trade grant program to link their NINs to their bank accounts for consideration. This requirement aligns with recent directives from the Central Bank of Nigeria on account verification with NIN. Applicants who have yet to link their NINs will receive SMS notifications from ‘FGGRANTLOAN’ with instructions to submit the necessary information via a secure link.

The Federal Government’s commitment to prioritizing locally manufactured goods for exports remains steadfast. The resolution of technical issues surrounding the NIN upload underscores the government’s dedication to supporting small businesses and fostering economic growth.
