The Federal Government (FG) will resume cash transfer payment to beneficiaries Nationwide on August 23, 2021. This was disclosed by Hajiya Halima, the National Coordinator of the programme, while speaking with State Focal Persons of the National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP), who paid her a courtesy visit in Abuja. She said that the delay in payment was because of system upgrade process in the project to improve implementation and further enhance service delivery. She also said that system upgrade was to ensure value for money, transparency and accountability.
She further explained that the systems upgrading involve setting the payment modalities to respond to cashless realities, security concerns and digitisation of the payment processes.
Shehu said;
“Thirty percent of its operations have been digitised and will recommence payment to its beneficiaries next week”.
However, the Coordinator noted that some states might not start receiving payment on August 23 because of some challenges, stating that efforts were in place to rectify the challenges.
She called on to the State Focal Persons to continue to support the programme to enable the government achieve its objectives of lifting many Nigerians out of poverty.
Responding to her, the Chairman of National Social Investment Programme(N-SIP), Alhaji Bala Chamo, thanked the coordinator for granting them audience and congratulated Shehu on her new appointment.
Chamo pledged undiluted support to the successful implementation of the programme.
The body in charge of cash transfer payment is the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO) under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
