The Nigeria Immigration Service has made plans to hire 5,000 people because it needs fresh employees.
Isa Jere, the Comptroller-General (CG), spoke with reporters in Dutse, the Jigawa nation’s capital.
The CG stated that it is crucial to address the labor shortfall in the security agency NIS.
Jere claimed that the training for new employees had just been completed and the recruiting exercise had ended.
“The government has banned the recruitment of personnel. But this has been raised in security agencies as security is key.
“We have written a letter to the president. And I am very confident that we will be approved to recruit about 5,000 additional personnel,” NAN quoted him as saying.
He disclosed that Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola had given President Muhammadu Buhari a message at his request.
CG visited Jigawa to offer condolences to the families of the police officers slain in the heist, as well as the police officers hurt in the ambush on August 9.
In the Birniwa locale of the state, they were attacked at the NIS base along the Birniwa-Galadi corridor.
The patrolling team was shot at by the robbers. Abdullahi Mohammed (CIA) was killed, and two other people suffered gunshot wounds.
