The Federal Government of Nigeria has decided to uplift about one million, five hundred thousand (1,500,000) Nigerians into being house owners. The initiate will not only make the beneficiaries Landlords but also bring about employment to Nigerians numbering one million, eight hundred thousand (1,800,000). This very initiative is to be achieved in the six geopolitical zones of the country.
The program is being run by the FG through the National Social Housing program (NSHP), and was effected in the month of December, 2020.
The capacity of each building as shown on the sample (prototype) is one bedroom, and two bedroom flats respectively, depending on which the individual(s) will want to go for.
Already Established NSHP Sites
Structures have been set up in Abuja, and was visited by the Vice President of the Federation, Yemi Osinbajo who commended the initiative.
Other sites includes;
- Ekiti and Ogun (Southwest).
Enugu, and Abia (Southeast).
Delta, and Edo (South-south).
Yobe, and Bauchi (Northeast).
Nasarawa and Plateau (North-central).
Kaduna and Katsina (Northwest).
Therefore, it means that the project will be carried out in twelve (12) States of the country. This doesn’t mean that non indigenes of the above named states can’t benefit from the initiative, as it is done by zoning and not otherwise.
Family Homes Fund (FHF), which is the implementing body, has started its obligation by sourcing out for Co-operative societies that will serve as agents to bring in beneficiaries.
This will help identify those that are receiving low income, and needs the buildings.
