The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier Gen. Shaibu Ibrahim has challenged Nigerians on the need to use every given opportunity given them to offer sincere service to humanity.
The NYSC boss gave this advice during the week during a book presentation in his honour titled “War, Society and Leadership in Nigeria” presented by the Department of History and War Studies, Nigeria Defence Academy.
According to Gen. Shaibu Ibrahim, a sincere service to the nation and humanity will go a long way to bring about a great reward at the end.
“The existence of humanity is to touch lives by trying to do good because people are watching and hard work pays” he said.
He further advised the people to strive to perform better wherever they find themselves and expressed delight to have received the recognition from the department where he served before moving to the NYSC.
Speaking at the event, the Director, Special Duties, NYSC, Mr. Adeola Afolayan said that the book is a product of rigorous academic research which was a great honour to both the Director General and the NYSC scheme.
According to Mr. Afolayan, the DG has remained focused and committed to actualising his goals for the scheme through relentless pursuit of his policies.
In the same vain, Professor Okpen Okpen, the book reviewer and the president of Historical Society of Nigeria praised the DG for demonstrating uncommon passion for the success of the scheme’s mandate.
