NYSC Speaks On Corps Members Receiving N30,000 From July

Following the order from President Muhammadu Buhari for immediate implementation of new minimum wage, the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed as rumour the information trending online that the scheme will start paying N30,000 new minimum wage starting from July, 2019.

The NYSC Director-General, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, debunked the information on Wednesday when he was addressing PRNigeria. He said, the NYSC management was yet to receive any directive from the government concerning new minimum wage or increment in corps members’ allowance.

Below are his words;

“When there is an increment and we have been notified, we will communicate the heartwarming decision to our corps members through appropriate channels.

“And certainly, the management will make sure that our corps members are paid according to the new increment”, he said.

However, Shuaibu, urged the general public to disregard fake Twitter posts bearing his identity.

He appealed to corps members to start using verifiable social media accounts of the scheme when seeking for information to avoid being misinformed by those that carry fake news around.
