Contrary to claims by Army Headquarters that only three (3) Soldiers and a Brigadier General were killed in the attack, photos by online media (igbere tv) showed that total of four soldiers and their commander were killed.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the unfortunate deaths of Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu and other officers.
President Buhari in a statement pray to God to comfort the Armed Forces and bereaved families.
The president said;
“Nigeria has lost brave soldiers. I salute their courage. May their souls Rest In Peace”.
Other prominent Nigerians have also taken to social media to mourn the death of Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu and other soldiers.
Former Senate president, Bukola Saraki, is one of those who have reacted to Zirkusu’s death on social media.
He said;
“My heartfelt prayers are with the families of Brigadier-General Dzarma Zirkushu and the three soldiers of the Nigerian Army’s 28 Task Force Brigade, Chibok, who were killed by terrorists while on their way to reinforce our troops at Bungulwa village, near Askira Uba”.
According to a report, the incident occurred at Bulguma, few kilometers from Askira town in Askira Uba local government area, when troops of 28 Task Force Brigade, Chibok, mobilised to provide reinforcement in Askira, which was under attack by ISWAP.
