1. The Catholic Church

The Roman Catholic Church, which is led by Pope Francis at the Vatican, remains the wealthiest of all churches. The church has the biggest net value of all churches, with around 30 million members in Nigeria and being one of the oldest churches in the world.

The church is also noted for its philanthropic offerings to the less fortunate, with many of its members contributing to the church’s welfare. Many dioceses and archdioceses exist throughout Nigeria, each led by a Bishop and backed by a Priest who oversees the welfare of the entire system. Within Nigeria, it is worth $150 billion.

2. Anglican Church

These churches are one of the oldest and first of their sort in the history of Nigerian churches, having been founded by British colonial overlords and being the mother of all churches in the country. A total of 12 million persons are thought to be among her members in Nigeria.

Mr Akindayomi founded the Redeem Christian Church in 1952. It is Nigeria’s third richest church and, more importantly, one of the most populous Pentecostal churches, with around 7 million adherents across the country.

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adebaye is the current general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God; however, he is not the founder; Mr Akindayomi founded the church in 1952. Pastor E.A Adeboye was given the mantle and went on to become the RCCG’s General Overseer.

The church is said to be Nigeria’s largest and most populated Pentecostal church; the church’s wealth comes from charitable donations, as well as income from the university; the church has a university, “The Redeemer University,” which includes secondary schools throughout Nigeria; they have a diverse revenue stream. MFM has over a thousand branches throughout Nigeria, and its primary source of funding is charitable donations. In addition, MFM has a registered football team in Nigeria and a standard institution, the “Mountain Top University,” in addition to the church. 7. The Christ Embassy

The Christ Embassy was founded in 1987 by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, one of Nigeria’s wealthiest pastors; the church is located in Lagos State; Christ Embassy is also known as “Loveworld,” and it is one of the country’s wealthiest churches; it also has many branches throughout the country and abroad, making it an international church.

8. Synagogue Church of All Nations

Late Prophet T.B Joshua founded the Synagogue Church of All Nations, which is currently among Africa’s wealthiest churches, with its headquarters in Lagos State. SCOAN has the largest Sunday service in the country, with over 20,000 people attending.

The Lord’s Choosen Charismatic Revival was formed by Pastor Lazarus Muoka, who also serves as the movement’s general overseer. The church has branches all over the world, and it is still located in Lagos State, among the Pentecostal churches.

10. House on the Rock

Pastor Paul Adefarasin started the church, which is considered to be one of Africa’s multi-national churches, with a population of around 20,000 worshipers.
