SPW Empowerment Is N60,000 Not Wheelbarrow and Cutlass – Minister

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FG), instroduced the Special Public Works (SPW) programme, which is an empowerment program to uplift citizens that have no skills, nor business ideas from poverty. The area of concern here is the rural areas (villages), where majority of the populance there are unskilled.

In each LGA in the country, one thousand (1,000) youths will be empowered, making it a total of seven hundred and seventy-four thousand (774,000) youths across the 774 local government in Nigeria.

Mr. Festus keyamo who is the minister of state for labour, wasn’t pleased with the report published that “The SPW program has started empowering the youths with wheelbarrow and cutlass”.

According to him, the tools that was given out are for the Government of Nigeria, and that it was given to those working under the umbrella of the scheme.

He went further to let the general public know that, the beneficiaries will be empowered with sixty thousand naira (N60,000) for the SPW program, which is meant for a duration of three (3) months. He disclosed this in Abuja while flagging off the program.

Beneficiaries are at this point informed, about the amount to be received from the SPW empowerment program.
