The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) is happy to announce that the TETFUND National Research Fund Award application for the 2021/22 grant cycle is now open to researchers in Nigeria.
Concept Notes in the areas of Humanities & Social Sciences, Science, Engineering, Technology & Innovation, and Cross-Cutting are welcomed to be submitted by interested researchers. The Nigerian Federal Government has allocated an amount of N8.5 billion for the current Grant Cycle 2021.
About TETFUND
The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) was formed by Act No. 7 of 1993, as amended by Act No. 40 of 1998, as the Education Trust Fund (ETF) (now repealed and replaced with Tertiary Education Trust Fund Act 2011). It is an intervention agency established to provide supplemental support to all levels of public tertiary institutions, with the primary goal of using financing and project management to restore, consolidate, and restore Tertiary Education in Nigeria.
The two percent education tax paid from the assessable profit of companies registered in Nigeria is the Fund’s principal source of funding. On behalf of the Fund, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) assesses and collects the tax. Qualification Criteria for National Research Fund Grants
Applicants for the TETFUND National Research Fund Grant 2021 must meet the following criteria:
- Become lecturers at any Nigerian public tertiary institution.
- Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research initiatives involving researchers from several fields must be eligible.
- The Principal Investigator (PI), who should ideally be at least a Senior Lecturer at a University, Chief Lecturer in a Polytechnic or College of Education, will head the Research Team and be personally responsible for the research’s conduct.
- Furthermore, the PI must be affiliated with an institution, with the PI’s institution serving as the Coordinating Institution.
- Researchers from private tertiary institutions, research institutes, centers of excellence, and industry can all contribute to the team.
