There appears to be progress in settling the deadlock at the University of Lagos between management and students over the rise in school and dorm fees.
The university administration altered course on Friday and agreed to a price cut.
The decision was decided after a meeting between the management and leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and university faculty presidents.
The student leaders urged that the tuition and housing fee increases be reversed, as well as the reinstatement of the university’s student union.
While agreeing to an immediate reduction in tuition and housing costs, university administrators promised to start working on the school’s restoration of the students union.
