In what will save many Nigerians from falling into the hands of scammers, the management of Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) and National Information Technology Agency (NITDA) have risen to disassociate themselves from connection to one Nigeria Enterprises Development Interactive Scheme (NEDIS) being shared around on the internet.
In a statement issued on social media, the two agencies denied knowing of, let alone have any links with the said NEDIS.
They, therefore, warned youths and the general public to thread with caution when dealing with anybody or associations online. The disclaimer issued by Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), the agency says its attention was drawn to the existence of an organization called Nigeria Enterprises Development Interactive Scheme (NEDIS) which says it is granting a loan it named The NEDIS COVID-19 Special Fund 2021 for Small and Medium Enterprises, traders, and farmers.
SMEDAN says it wishes to inform the general public that it does not have any dealings or partnership with Nigeria Enterprises Development Interactive Scheme (NEDIS) and, as a result, separates itself from the organisation.
It warned Nigerians to avoid engaging such, saying that SMEDAN will not be held liable for any losses arising from any business dealings entered with NEDIS.
In like manner, the management of National Information Technology Agency (NITDA) vehemently rejected any links with Nigeria Enterprises Development Interactive Scheme (NEDIS).
The agency clarified that it is not involved in any form of partnership or association with Nigeria Enterprises Development Interactive Scheme (NEDIS), warning Nigerians, like its SMEDAN counterpart, to not be involved in any business transaction with NEDIS.
Conclus ion
Now that you have heard it loud and clear, we implore you to avoid NEDIS in your own interest. The economy is too harsh for one to lose money to scammers while looking for the same money. Avoid anything that is not confirmed by the government or appropriate authorities.
