The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the granting of interim licenses to 12 private universities around the country.

He said universities in Kano, Niger, Gombe, Sokoto, Delta, Abia, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, would be affected.
He said: “Council approved the memo for the issuance of provisional licences for the establishment of 12 proposed private universities.
“The proposed private universities are Pen Resource University Gombe, Gombe State, Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri, Borno State, Margaret Lawrence I -University, Delta State and Khalifa Ishaku Rabiu University Kano, Kano State.

Each of the new universities, he claims, will be mentored by older colleges located closer to them.
He claimed that if the objective of educating a bigger percentage of children is to work, more institutions must be built for a country with a population of over 200 million people.
The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, was also given clearance to amend the projected total cost of the contract for the extension of the inner southern expressway from the outer southern expressway to the southern parkway.
Mr Mohammed, who spoke in place of the FCT Minister, said the enhancement will cost N1.4 billion.
He said that the augmentation would increase the contract value from over N17 billion to over N18.5 billion, and that it would take 12 months to complete.
Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Works and Housing, also stated that the National Assembly has granted N36.1 billion for the restoration of the Keffi-Nasarawa-Toto road in Nasarawa State. He said:
“The Ministry of Works and Housing presented a memorandum to council for a contract for the rehabilitation of 118.9 Keffi-Nasarawa-Toto road in Nasarawa State and the memo was approved for the award of the contract for N36.130 billion.”

According to the minister, the Executive Order will benefit Nigerians greatly, and it is the first time the Nigerian government has made maintenance a national priority.
