The Federal Government has established the Nigeria Youth Online Assembly (NOYA), an online youth initiative aimed at empowering youth through timely dissemination of information on career-enhancing, training, job, and employment placement opportunities via a unified platform in order to increase youth employment in the country.
While declaring a 3-day Sensitisation Workshop on the use of NOYA, held at the National Youth Centre, Odo-emu in Osun State today, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, @hmsundaydare, stated that the initiative is in line with the current Administration’s avowed determination to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years.
The Minister, who was represented by Mr. Segun Oke, Director, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development’s Procurement Department, stated that the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development recognizes that the energy, skills, and aspirations of young people are vital assets that no country can afford to waste.
He went on to say that assisting the youth in realizing their full potential by getting job is without a doubt a precondition for poverty reduction and Nigeria’s long-term development.
Mr Dare went on to say that, rather than viewing kids as a burden on society, the formation of a youth template gives the government a unique opportunity to focus on youth employment and job growth.
According to him, the Ministry has launched many skills acquisition and empowerment programs in recent years in response to the need to pull a large number of youth out of poverty in order to assure their productive and viable occupational involvement.
HM Sunday Dare explained that:
“it is on this note that the Ministry is creating awareness and innovative opportunities for Nigerian youth by advancing nimble values and principles, creating a safe space for networking, developing new skills, sharing ideas and flourishing together through leveraging on NOYA to crowdsource youth employment in Nigeria”
