Ministry Releases GEEP 2.0 Loan Second Phase Registration Date

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development has announced registration commencement date for the Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP) 2.0 Loan Second Phase.

According to information released by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, registration for the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme’s Second Phase, dubbed GEEP 2.0, will Kick-start in August 2022.

This information was released by the Ministry on Monday in a statement headlined “GEEP 2.0 CONCLUDES STEP DOWN TRAINING NATIONWIDE” and carried the signature of Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, the Permanent Secretary.

Sani-Gwarzo claims that the Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP), its Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers (COMOs), and GEEP Desk Officers in the States have completed a statewide Advanced Step-Down Training.

In order to improve beneficiary registration procedures moving forward, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development brought the training to the States, where the Master Trainers had an impact on 774 COMOs/GEEPDOs spread across the Local Government Areas by using the digital applications on the tablets that were provided. This is done in order to get ready for the second round of GEEP 2.0 beneficiary registration, which is set to begin in August 2022.

The three-day interactive training program offered a thorough framework for improving beneficiary registration procedures and putting GEEP 2.0’s digital transformation into practice. These improvements will include tools and methods that will be used nationally in Trader Moni, Market Moni, and Farmer Moni.

The main goal of the training was to help Local Government GEEP Desk Officers (GEEPDOs) prioritize using the National Identification Number (NIN) as a requirement for GEEP 2.0 registration. The training was also intended to help and advance the knowledge of State and Local Government value players who are the Master Trainers and GEEP Program Managers on the GEEP 2.0 digitization process and Registration, implying the same knowledge as a step-down training process to the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers (COMOs) and GEEP Desk Officers in the States across the country.

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development made the decision to adopt modern technology and digitization methods in order to continuously innovate, rethink, and redesign processes that will deliver a better beneficiary experience and move away from manual registration, which was slow and onerous, in order to improve services to rural communities and beneficiaries.
