The United States Department of State and IREX invites applications from young Africans for the annual Mandela Washington Fellowship 2021/2022 programme for regional, academic and professionals to study and score the 2022 applications. In this article, we will tell you all you need to know about the Mandela Washington Fellowship 2021/2022.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship is the top programme of the United States Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI network). The fellowship has brought a lot of young leaders together from every nation in Sub-Saharan Africa to the United States for academic and leadership teaching. The fellowship is only sponsored by the United States Government and IREX, a global development and education organization known fully as International Research and Exchanges Board.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship 2021/2022 is yet to specify which institution will host the 2022/2022 edition of the fellowship, although there are different awards to be won by fellows. Also, the programme covers study at all levels for the duration of 3 months. The Mandela Washington Fellowship is strictly for African citizens.

To stand a chance to be considered for participation in this year’s fellowship programme, interested applicants are to fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

  • All candidates must be academics and professionals with experience inone field ofbusiness, civic engagement, and public management.
  • Applicants must have experience in Africa, or expertise on Sub-Saharan African issues.
  • United States Government employees of African descent and Fellowship Alumni arequalifyto apply.
  • Interested candidates must display excellent academic and leadership capabilities
