MTN Appoints TumiChamayou As New Executive

TumiChamayou has been named Group Executive: Enterprise Business Unit (GEBU) by MTN Group, effective June 1, 2022.

TumiChamayou joined the GEBU team in 2018 as the general manager of large business sales, and has also served as interim executive since July 2020.

Tumi’s hiring is the latest in a series of personnel changes at the Pan-African mobile operator, which is bolstering its staff in preparation for its Ambition in 2025 agenda.

MTN named Hermann Tischendorf as the chief technology and information officer for digital and fintech, as well as Michele Gamberini as the chief technology and information officer and Megan Nicholas as the Managing Director of MTN Supersonic, in December 2021.

In a statement the MTN Group says:

“During this time, she has added immense value, overseeing client segment teams as well as the overall strategy & operational alignment with EBU teams in MTN’s operating companies “.

According to the group chief operating executive Jens Schulte-Bockum:

“Tumi has the expertise and track record to assist in bolstering the leadership capability of the MTN Group”. “Critical to the realisation of our strategic imperatives is an integrated, synergistic, & collaborative leadership team whose core values and mindset are aligned with the company’s strategy. We look forward to working with Tumi in her new role”.

Chamayou is a seasoned professional with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa and extensive experience in technology, telecommunications, and management consulting.

Tumi had senior leadership positions at organizations such as Ericsson, EgonZehnder, Accenture, and Decipher before joining MTN.
