NYSC Declares General Holiday for Corps Members

– NYSC Declares General Holiday for Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has declared general holiday for Corps members to travel homes for festive season.

According to a letter purportedly signed by NYSC Director General, Gen. S Ibrahim, the holiday will commence on 20th December, 2019 to 6th January, 2020.

The reason for the holiday is to enable Corps members travel to their various homes for Christmas and new year cerebration.

This information is also passed across all Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) that there would be a general holiday for Corps member.

However, Corps members are expected to resume work on 7th January, 2020. Failure to resume work on the 7th attracts severe punishment.

Below is the NYSC letter of notice to all Places of Primary Assignment:

“LETTER OF NOTICE TO ALL PLACES OF PRIMARY ASSIGNMENT

” This is to inform all Places of Primary Assignment (P. P. A) that there would be a general holiday for Corps Members commencing from the 20th of December, 2019 to the 6th of January, 2020. This is to ensure Corps Members travel back to their respective homes in time for the festive season”.

Controversy

Few hours after the letter of notice is released, NYSC Lagos State Secretariat dismissed as fake the notice and asked Corps members to disregard the letter.

However, the NYSC Lagos has insisted that any Corps member who wishes to travel outside their state of service must apply in writing through Local Government Inspector (LGI) and employer, and receives a written approval from State Coordinator before traveling. See picture below;
