Recall that Nyscinfo has reported that a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) allegedly raped a JSS 1 student in Katsina.
Following the alleged rape, the information reaching us is that the Nigeria Police has arrested and detained the Corps member.
The Corps member, whose identity was not revealed, is being detained by Nigeria police at the Sabon-Garin Police Station, Katsina.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Katsina State, SP Gambo Isah, has confirmed the incident.
Isah said, “Yes, the boy has been arrested. But we are awaiting the medical report to firmly establish the allegation”.
However, the NYSC spokesman in the state, Mr. Alex Oboaemeta, denied the allegation, saying investigation is still ongoing into the incident.
It was alleged that the victim, a JSSl 1 student at the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Katsina, made the allegation against the Corps member, leading to his arrest.
The Nyscinfo correspondent gathered that the NYSC member allegedly committed the act when she visited him at Corpers’ lodge in the community.
It was also revealed that the school management and the NYSC authorities met on Monday to discuss the matter before the police were invited to arrest the Corps member.
