The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Selection Interview, which will lead to the award of scholarships for the 2023/2024 Overseas Scholarship Scheme (OSS) MSc and PhD programs, will begin on Monday, June 19th, 2023, and will end on Friday, June 23rd, 2023.
The interviews are taking place across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. Shortlisted candidates have been notified with information on their interview times and locations.The interview process is a continuation of the scholarship process that began on February 13th, 2023, with a public announcement inviting interested candidates from across the country to apply for the PTDF Overseas Scholarship in Universities in the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, France, China, and Malaysia (GFCM) as part of its Strategic Partnership Initiative.
Only those who met the application standards as posted were shortlisted and invited to the oral interview. The prize is given solely based on performance in the interview.
The establishment of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund to train Nigerians as graduates, professionals, technicians, and craftsmen in the fields of Engineering, Geology, Science, and Management in the petroleum sector was the first major step toward institutionalizing the policy of local manpower development in the oil and gas industry.
Prior to its establishment, the government passed legislation requiring multinational oil corporations to hire and train Nigerians with the expectation that after a certain period, Nigerians will take over the administration of the industry, from exploration to marketing. As a result, the PTDF is a special purpose fund established to train and make available trained, competent, and qualified local labor for the oil and gas industry.
