Uche Mefor Biography: Alphonsus Uche Okafor-Mefor is a Nigerian born Pro-Biafra activist and former Deputy Leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra otherwise known as IPOB which is being led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Uche Mafor is born into the family of Mr and Mrs Okafor-Mefor on 15th January (unknown year), Uche Mefor is a native of Obatete Omambala, Onitsha, Anambra State.

Pro-Biafra Activism

Before joining IPOB, Uche was a devoted member of MASSOB (Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra) who are associated with Igbo nationalism, which supports the recreation of an independent state of Biafra. This was around 2007.

Around the same 2007, Mefor was detained in Tinsley House Immigration Removal Centre, an Immigration detention base in Low Field Heath, England, having claimed asylum in 2005.

Education

Mefor studied International Refugee Law, Armed Conflict, and Psychoanalysis. Although, we cannot independently verify which institution he studied the course.

Uche Mefor separation from Nnamdi Kanu

Around mid-2020, it was claimed Mefor openly confronted his boss, Nnamdi Kanu after he was said to have written the British Home Office with the objective to ruin and nullify every asylum chances of IPOB asylum seekers in the United Kingdom (UK). The letter, according to a memo by the Head of Directorate of IPOB, Chika Edoziem, made it impossible for IPOB members in UK to receive favourable hearing at the tribunals.

After resigning his position of IPOB Deputy Leader in November 2020, Uche floated his own radio station which he called Biafra Human Rights and Freedom Radio (BHRFR)
