Who Needs ETA?
Starting from the mentioned date, all travelers, except British and Irish nationals, must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before entering or transiting through the UK. This includes those who were previously eligible to visit the UK without a visa and are not already legally resident in the UK.
The ETA is applicable to a wide range of travel purposes, such as tourism, visiting family and friends, business trips, and short-term study visits. It’s a digital permission linked to your passport and will be essential for those staying in the UK for less than six months.
How to Apply for UK ETA
To get your ETA, you must apply online before making any travel arrangements to the UK. Once granted, it will be valid for multiple journeys over two years or until your passport expires.
Travelers with valid visas may not be allowed to board without a valid ETA. The ETA is digitally linked to your passport, ensuring a smooth entry process.
While the ETA grants you permission to travel to the UK, you’ll still need to go through passport control at the border for entry. Make sure to use the same passport you used for your ETA application and ensure your passport is valid for your entire stay.
