Nigerian Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo is now in self-isolation at home.
This was made known on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande through a tweet.
During the last Federal Executive Council meeting, Osinbajo and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari who tested positive earlier today sat close to each other. Their seats were separated by that of the Secretary to the Government, Boss Mustapha.
Akande tweeted that the VP is self-isolating in accordance with the “protocols” of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
“VP Osinbajo yesterday at the office conducted his meetings via video conferencing, while observing social distancing.
“Today, he continues his work from the home office, as he is in self-isolation in accordance with NCDC protocols.” The tweet said.
To further prevent the spread of the deadly virus inside the Presidential Villa, activities have been shut down while all staff who came in contact with Kyari had been asked to self-isolate for a number of days.
Three aides of Abba Kyari test positive
Three aides to Abba Kyari have tested positive for coronavirus, forcing other members of his staff to self-isolate.
The identities of the staff are not known yet, but it is believed that they are close members of Kyari’s work unit.
Aliko Dangote, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, President Buhari’s SSA Media, Garba Shehu, Governor Bello Masari of Katsina and Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, are among the few others that Kyari came in contact with after returning from his foreign trip.
At the time of filling this report, Nigeria has a total of 44 confirmed cases of the virus in the country, 2 persons have been discharged with one death.
