The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday confirmed that about 138 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) tested positive to covid-19 virus.
This was disclosed by the Director General of NCDC, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu during a national press briefing in Abuja.

According to him, 34,785 corps members and Camp officials has so far been tested, with 138 returning positive which represents 0.4 prevalence rate.
The NCDC boss said that none of the corps members that tested positive to covid-19 were allowed into camp and they are being either managed at home or in a treatment center depending on what state they are in.
Dr Ihekweazu expressed confidence that the center will work out modalities with the key players in the educational sector even as schools are being reopened gradually.
According to him, “Universities are slightly riskier and present unique challenge but we can address this as we have done in other sectors like avaition” .
The NYSC orientation camp across the 36 states and FCT were recently reopened after an initial shutdown following the outbreak of covid-19 in the country.
