The distribution of ATM cards for the collection of the monthly stipend to COVID-19 palliative beneficiaries has been launched by the Nasarawa State Community and Social Development Agency.
The act would be performed as part of the state’s Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Stimulus (NG-CARES) initiative.
According to the organization, this will promote transparency and accountability while also helping to lift the state’s youth out of poverty.
Over 200 recipients of the Lafia Local Government Area of the state received the first distribution on Wednesday in Lafia from Mr. Ahmed Saidu, the agency’s general manager.
According to him, the initiative was created to help people, particularly the weaker and less fortunate, escape poverty in the state.
The general manager stated that the beneficiaries would be placed in their local communities’ schools, markets, and hospitals, among other places.
“After which you will be paid N10,000 monthly stipend,” he said.
Saidu urged the recipients to make wise use of their stipends to enhance their standard of living.
He praised Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for developing and putting the program into action and rescuing the young people from poverty.
The NG-CARES State Coordinator, Mr. Umar Dahiru, stated that the initiative was intended for the state’s 13 local government areas’ impoverished and vulnerable residents.
He claimed that steps had been taken to guarantee the program’s success in the state.
According to the coordinator, the program would help more than 2,800 people in the 13 LGAs.
Mr. Mohammed Haliru, the secretary of the state’s Lafia Local Government Area, expressed his gratitude to the organization for selecting the council for the occasion in his remarks.
He urged the recipients to return the favor by being devoted to their jobs and aiding the success of government policies and programs.
Some of the recipients expressed gratitude to the state government for the gesture while speaking at the ceremony, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
They also pledged to work hard at fulfilling their obligations.
