The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national leadership led a “black uniform” demonstration on Monday to the INEC national offices in Abuja in protest of the results of the February 25 presidential election.
The demonstration was headed by PDP leaders including Atiku Abubakar, the party’s nominee for president, Iyorchia Ayu, vice presidential nominee Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, and others.
Then, the demonstrators blocked the entrance to the INEC headquarters. Since then, the gate has been locked by the Commission’s security officers.
Others at the protest include the Chairman of Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel; the Director General of PCC and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.

The Independent National Electoral Commission announced Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the winner at 4 a.m. on Wednesday (INEC).
The former governor of Lagos State won the most votes (8,794,726), over two million more than his nearest challenger, former vice president and PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar, in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states. He also won large numbers in numerous other states.
Atiku, 76, who has already campaigned for president six times, received 6,984,520 votes, while Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Obi, who in less than a year galvanized youthful voters in a way that some have called unprecedented, came in second with 6,101,533, received 6,101,533.
By virtue of his election, APC President Muhammadu Buhari will transfer power to fellow party member Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023, when his eight-year, two-term mandate ends.
