Beatrice Ekweremadu was born into the family of Chief John and Lolo Monica Okah on September 10, 1966. She is the wife of former Nigerian Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

Mrs. Ekweremadu is also a talented academic. St Patrick’s Primary School in Ogbete, Enugu, and Idaw River Girls’ Secondary School in Awkunanaw, Enugu were her primary and secondary schools, respectively.She also attended the prominent Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu, as well as the University of Nigeria Nsukka and Ebonyi State University. Dr. Mrs. Nwanneka Ekweremadu has demonstrated that she is a steadfast supporter of her husband. She has demonstrated remarkable candor and devotion in managing her home, her official obligations, and coping with the enormous demands of her husband’s extensive political field, which extends beyond Enugu State. She is the driving force behind the Ikeoha Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by her husband, Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
Through scholarships, vocational trainings, poverty reduction, adult literacy programs, student quiz competitions, and other initiatives, the Foundation has brought new meaning to the lives of countless women, widows, and youngsters. Dr. Mrs Ekweremadu worked as a teacher at the Federal Government College Enugu and the Federal Government College Appo in Abuja before joining the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
She is the wife of former Nigerian Senate Deputy President Ike Ekweremadu. He is an Enugu State-born politician and lawyer who has served in the Nigerian Senate since 2003. He is a member of the People’s Democratic Party and has served as the vice president of the Nigerian Senate for three consecutive senates. He left that role in June 2019.

She and her husband have been charged with allegedly organizing the transfer of a kid from Nigeria to the United Kingdom for organ harvesting. The illegal removal of a person’s organs without their consent is known as organ harvesting.
The duo was apprehended at Heathrow Airport after the police received a tip. The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation by the UK police department. Since May 2022, when the Metropolitan Police Department became aware of potential violations of the Modern Slavery Act.
In May 2023, a UK court condemned former Nigerian Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu to nine years and eight months in jail for an organ trafficking plan.
The court also jailed his wife, Beatrice, to four years and six months in prison, while Dr Obinna Obeta, the medical doctor who functioned as a ‘middleman’ in the scheme, was sentenced to ten years in prison and his medical license was suspended.
