The Ebonyi State University has authorized a program permitting students to pay their tuition fees in installments.
The policy is outlined in an internal memorandum dated August 14, 2023 and signed by the institution’s Registrar, Jeremiah Nwamgbo. According to the memo, the new policy, which will be implemented beginning with the 2023/2024 academic session, would allow students to pay their tuition in two installments during a session while actively participating in all academic activities of the University.
It went on to say that the action is intended to encourage all students, particularly the poor, to pursue their academic aspirations without interruption while making fee payment easier for them.
The University has directed the University Bursar, the Remit Desk, and other entities in charge of student fees to take note of the memo. Prof. Eugene Nweke, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, stated that the policy aims to expand access to varsity education and end student withdrawal due to inability to pay fees.
